A Demelza supporter is celebrating after being named the first Superdraw winner and scooping over £9,000.
Jo Gunner from Margate won £9,362 after signing up to the Superdraw in July.
The Demelza Superdraw was launched in October 2011 as an extra game to the Demelza lottery. Players select their own numbers and if no-one wins the jackpot rolls over, up to £25,000.
Mrs Gunner said: “The win came out of the blue and was a complete and utter shock! I always supported Demelza through fundraising events or just putting money in the collection boxes when I saw them but to be able to give a constant donation though the lottery and subsequently the superdraw meant that I was making a regular contribution.
“I support Demelza because it is a children’s hospice and is close to my heart. I have children of my own and cannot imagine what families go through knowing their child will not reach adulthood but to have something like Demelza supporting not only the child but the families as well is invaluable particularly the ongoing care that you give such as the bereavement support after a child’s life ends. “
She is planning on using the money to pay for a new roof for her home and to take the family on its first holiday for five years.
