Demelza is appealing for residents in Gillingham to have a clear out and donate clothes to the charity shop after a fire destroyed 14 bags of stock.
A small fire in a storage shed at the back of the shop was believed to have been started by a squatter trying to keep warm on the night of January 9th. The alarm was raised and the fire brigade called by the tenant in the flat above the shop.
The cause of the fire is now being investigated but bags of stock intended to keep the shelves of the shop filled for the next two weeks are unusable.
Shop manager Holly White said: “We were relying on that to get us through the next two weeks. If anyone has any clothing, particularly ladies tops please consider donating them to the Demelza shop.”
