Meet our volunteers

Over 1,000 people give up their time to volunteer for Demelza. We introduce you to some of them!

How long have you been a Volunteer:
 1 yr

What inspired you to volunteer?
I moved to the area and thought it would be a good way of meeting local people and wanted to feel useful. I started by volunteering at the shop and recently extended my volunteering to include working on the reception desk at the Kent hospice.
Why did you choose to apply to Demelza?
A freind of mine had twins who were looked after by Demelza and I felt that i wanted to support Demelza in some way.

What do you enjoy about volunteering with Demelza?
I like interacting with people and enjoy meeting different people every day

What Inspired you to become a volunteer?
I found I had time to spare and wanted to give support to a worthy organisation

Why did you choose to help Demelza?
I was aware of Demelza and the amazing work done by Demelza

What do you enjoy about volunteering with Demelza?
The atmosphere in the kitchen, meeting others and the opportunity to learn new skills.

What made you want to become a volunteer?

I heard about Demelza when it first opened and was encouraged by a staff member to volunteer

Why did you choose to help Demelza? 
Because it is a local charity for children and families and it filled a great need in the community

What do you enjoy about volunteering with Demelza?
 
                                Helping families, making friendships, meting people, having fun and making a difference.

What inspired you to volunteer?
I have volunteered somewhere for the last 50 yrs, it's in my blood!

Why did you choose Demelza?
I did some fundraising for West Wickham shop and met some of the volunteers.  When I retired I vowed to work at Demelza Bobbing.

What do you most enjoy about volunteering with Demelza?
The truly "Family Feeling" as well as the freindship and knowing my small contribution helps.
