Pay for a Day

What a difference a day at Demelza makes

Each and every day Demelza makes a difference, to the children and families that need our services, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  We offer a unique place of care and support for local life-limited and life-threatened children and their families. With our ethos of “adding life to days when days cannot be added to life”, we aim to make every day special and create memories that the families can treasure for the rest of their lives.

A day at Demelza could be the day
• a child and family have a short break at Demelza for the first time
• a child communicates through music for the first time
• a teenager discovers the joys of swimming
• we celebrate a young person’s birthday with a party
• A messy play session brings smiles all around
• the saddest day, the last day for a family together but a chance to say goodbye at their own pace, supported by our expert nursing team

The day you choose to pay for could be the most precious day for a child and their family.

Choosing your day

Through our Pay for a Day initiative you could make a world of difference by funding a full day of expert care in our hospices at Sittingbourne and Eltham.

You can choose a day that is relevant and personal to you which could be a birthday, an anniversary or to commemorate a loved one.

Whichever day you choose to pay for, with our Pay for a Day campaign you will make a difference to the lives of the families at Demelza. This difference won’t just last 24 hours it will last a lifetime.

Celebrate your chosen day with us

Once you have supported Pay for a Day we will celebrate this with you through a number of ways.

A personalised framed certificate, acknowledging your donation and commemorating your day at Demelza will be displayed in our reception areas on your chosen day for all visitors and families to see. It will then be sent to you as a momento.

Our website will include a rollcall with your name or organisation’s name, recognising the huge contribution you have made to our hospice. We will also mention you in our bi-annual newsletter. In addition we would shout about your donation via Facebook and Twitter.

We would also be delighted to extend an invitation to you to visit the hospice so you can come and see how your donation is spent and how it helps us care for life-limited and life-threatened children. This could also be an opportunity to volunteer at our hospice.

How to pay

A day’s care at our two Hospices at Sittingbourne and Eltham costs £12,400 which is made up of £7,950 for our 10 bedded hospice in Sittingbourne and £4,450 for our 6 bedded hospice in Eltham. Alternatively £1,600 would pay for a day's care in our community service.

You can give this as a corporate or personal donation, or fundraise the amount either as an individual or with an organisation. You can choose to pay for any day that is available and for as many days as you wish.
