Suggested wording for a pecuniary gift:
“I give to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Rook Lane, Sittingbourne, Kent ME9 8DZ, registered charity number 1039651, the sum of (money in words) (£x), free of inheritance tax for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being or other duly authorised office shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.”
2. By leaving an item to be sold and the proceeds given to Demelza Hospice Care for Children (a specific gift). This could be an item of jewellery or furniture.
Suggested wording for a specific gift:
“I give to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Rook Lane, Sittingbourne, Kent ME9 8DZ, registered charity number 1039651 (the item or items) to be sold and the proceeds, free of inheritance tax, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer for the time being or other duly authorised office shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.”
3. By leaving us some of the remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones (a residual gift). After all other wishes and beneficiaries have been taken care of, all or a percentage of what’s left is given to the charity. This is an extremely effective way to help Demelza Hospice Care for Children as it is more inflation proof than the other two methods.
