Short Breaks Young People Palliative Care End Of Life Care

In addition to short term breaks we run young people's groups, offering an opportunity to meet, socialise and experience a wide variety of age appropriate activities.

At Demelza Kent we have The Inclusion Zone (TIZ room), designed and named by the young people themselves, with facilities to give them their own space and independence during their stay. Some bedrooms also have environmental controls to make simple things that we may take for granted, such as closing curtains or changing TV channels a possibility for young people with very limited mobility.

An important part of our work is to liaise closely with young people and their families as they approach the need to access adult services. This can take place over many months or years to ensure a smooth transition is made to services appropriate to each individual's needs.

We hope to further develop our services and facilities which includes the appointment of a Young Person's Outreach Worker and enhanced facilities for young people at Demelza Kent.
