The best of the West End and an array of local talent came out at the Granville Theatre in Ramsgate wowing the audience and raising money for Demelza.

“Love is in the Air” was the brainchild of Demelza Ambassador and figure skating Olympic gold medallist, Robin Cousins MBE and West End star and Faversham resident Anna-Jane Casey.

Calling in favours from their talented friends and contacts – all of whom gave their time for free - the pair put together a musical extravaganza featuring show-stopping performances from Olivier award-winner and former Eastender, Jenna Russell, West End stars Amy Lennox (Cabaret, Opening Night), Shannon Taiwo (The Lion King), Christina Bianco and Kim Ismay.

Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan from The Fizz had the audience on their feet following their rendition of the Bucks Fizz classic “Making your Mind Up”, while 13-year-old Hallie, who is supported by Demelza, had the audience in tears with her version of “A Million Dreams” from the Greatest Showman.

The evening was hosted by musician and drag artist, Velma Celli and the audience also enjoyed performances from the Faversham Music Theatre Choir, the Demelza Choir, Footsies Dance Studio, Noah Walsh, Nate Frindell and Jude Harper-Wroebel, as well as the Regency Theatre school, based in Ramsgate.

And what better endorsement from a member of the audience, Mary Marsh, a supporter from Sittingbourne, who said: “Best night out I’ve had in years!”
